Position: IB DP Chemistry & IB MYP Science Teacher

Location: American International School of Lusaka (AISL), ZAMBIA

Reports To: Secondary Principal

Position Overview

The American International School of Lusaka (AISL) is seeking a passionate and skilled educator to join our Science team as an IBDP Chemistry and IB MYP Science teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students in the study of chemistry and science, fostering a deep understanding of scientific concepts and their real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging and effective lesson plans for IBDP Chemistry and IB MYP Science, ensuring alignment with the International Baccalaureate framework.
  • Foster a student-centred learning environment that promotes critical thinking, inquiry, and a love of science.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and integrate real-world issues into the curriculum.
  • Maintain an inclusive classroom atmosphere that respects diverse perspectives and encourages student participation.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities to stay current with IB educational practices and advancements in science education.
  • Engage with parents and the community to support student learning and promote the values of AISL.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.
  • IB DP & MYP experience and training are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB school setting.
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
