IB MYP and DP Math Educator

Position Title: IBMYP and IBDP Math (Tentative)

Location: American International School of Lusaka (AISL), ZAMBIA 

Reports To: Secondary Principal

Department: Mathematics 

Position Overview

The American International School of Lusaka (AISL) is seeking a passionate and skilled educator to join our Secondary team, teaching a blend of subjects, most likely the following:  IBDP Mathematics (AA or AI), and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Mathematics. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students in these diverse areas, fostering a deep understanding of core concepts in the mathematical field, and their powerful real-world applications, all while promoting the aims of the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging and effective lessons for IBDP Math (AA or AI), and IB MYP Math, ensuring full alignment with the International Baccalaureate framework and school curriculum.
  • Foster a student-centered learning environment that promotes critical thinking, inquiry, and a love of learning.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including internal and external IB assessment components providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in both the Mathematics department and across the Secondary division.
  • Maintain an inclusive classroom atmosphere that respects diverse perspectives and encourages active student participation.
  • Participate fully in professional learning opportunities to stay current educational practices, advancements in the mathematical field, and AISL's mission.
  • Engage proactively with parents and the wider community to support student learning and promote the values and strategic vision of AISL.
  • Contribute to the school's co-curricular activities program (as appropriate to the role).
  • Be a mentor/advisor as part of our Ubuntu program (Advisory +). 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, or a related educational field.
  • IB DP & MYP experience and training in Mathematics is highly desirable (or a demonstrated commitment to obtaining necessary training).
  • Ideally a minimum of three years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB school setting.
  • Strong collaborative, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment.
